Places to go

Órgiva is an excellent base from which to explore the mountains, beaches, villages, towns and cities of the area.

The Alpujarras and the Axarquía regions provide the opportunity to experience Spain at its purest.  Whilst both are mountainous the scenery is very different.  The Alpujarras have a rugged beauty whilst Axarquia has a lush beauty and a gorgeous turquoise coloured lake at its centre -  Lake Viñuela.  Both regions are dotted with white-washed villages, make sure you visit the three villages lining the Poqueira gorge in the Alpujarras and the mountain top village of Comares in Axarquía.

You can enjoy the beach and a huge range of coastal activities on both the Costa Tropical and the eastern end of Málaga's Costa del Sol.  The eastern end is still unspoilt in comparison to the coast to the west of Málaga.  La Herradura, Almunecar, Salobrena, Nerja and Torre del Mar are all wonderful beaches.  If you enjoy wandering along beachside promenades for kilometre after kilometre then do visit La Herradura and Almunecar where the promenades are long and you can walk from one to the other.

Granada and Málaga are beautiful cities, each offering a very different experience for visitors.  Granada is inland and in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains.  Málaga is on the coast and has a lovely port to wander through.  The white washed villages of the Alpujarras are a joy to savour.
