Weddings

Enjoy your wedding at Rural Paradise in our gorgeous tropical oasis.

By leaving your home shores you get the opportunity to spend more time with your loved ones and friends because they inevitably make a short holiday around your special day.  Weddings at home provide fleeting opportunities to share precious time with those close to you.

We are flexible in the services we provide, it is your special day so you decide.  We can manage the complete wedding for you or simply provide the venue and accommodation should you want to use a wedding planner or want to organise it yourself.

Rural Paradise can cater for up to 80 people.  For the bridal group we can accommodate 14 people comfortably.  This could be extended to 18 people by using the sofa beds in Mulhacén and Alcazaba.

Accommodation for the other guests can be organised locally, either in hotels or holiday lets.

There are a great number of highly creative and talented people in and around Órgiva that we can bring together to make your day truly special and memorable.

A Wedding Scenario

Steps to Reception areaGroom and bride arrive, a few days later their respective parents arrive as does the best man.  The bridal group is complete and settled into their respective accommodations.

Friends and extended family arrive from their holiday lets to congratulate the bride and groom on the wedding to come.  They enjoy spending time together within the tropical oasis that is Rural Paradise.

On the wedding day at 3pm family and friends arrive through the gate into the car park and through a floral arch into the Accommodation Area, past the gorgeous bouganevillea and old fig tree.  Then down curving steps and through another floral arch into the Andalusian Courtyard, through a grapevine lined arch into the Pool Area and down meandering steps under palm fronds past the Turtle Pond to the pool and Moroccan Day Bed.  The sound of a flamenco guitarist welcomes you to where the wedding ceremony will take place.  Waiters offer you Cava and canapés whilst you wait for the groom and best man to arrive and later the bridal train.

The wedding ceremony takes place on the Moroccan Day Bed at 4pm.  The groom and best man take their places and soon after the bride with her entourage appear.  After the ceremony the signing takes place on the Moroccan Day Bed and the guests drift off to enjoy the tropical ambience, more Cava and canapés or pay a visit to the bar for something different whilst the official photographs are taken.  The sound of the flamenco guitarist continues in the background.

At 5:30pm the best man invites everyone to take their seats for the speeches and Wedding Breakfast.  People move past the orange, apricot and plum trees to the Palm Court where the tables and chairs are set up under the shade of sun sails.  The tables are circular sitting 10 people and set amidst the palm trees.  The bridal group sit at the central table so they are at the heart of their family and friends.  The speeches come first so the meal can be enjoyed by all.

After the meal the wedding cake is cut and the bride and groom have their first dance and the party really gets started.

At 10:30pm when the night closes in the best man invites the guests to retrace their steps towards the car park and to ascend stairs to the roof terraces above Veleta and Mulhacén.  Everyone is given sparklers and fireworks launch from the upper garden rising to a crescendo of spectacular light and sound.

The party continues in the Palm Court until the early hours.  But it does not end then...

As everyone is staying in the locale of Órgiva there are many more opportunities to get together and share each others company in the many bars and restaurants.  There is even the opportunity to spend time on the beaches of Granada or to visit the white villages of the Sierra Nevada mountains and the surrounding wild and rugged scenery.  Some people take the opportunity to visit the capital city of Granada and to enjoy its many beautiful attractions such as the Alhambra, Albaicín and the cathedral.

Some people decide to simply soak up the atmosphere and tranquility of Rural Paradise, a few enjoying an invigorating massage in the Summer House.  The bride and groom stay on for an extra few days as family and friends make their homeward journeys taking time together to enjoy the amazing scenery of the Alpujarras.

Reception Area

Wedding guests enter Rural Paradise through the gate into the Parking Area and wend their way down through the Accommodation Area, the Andalusian courtyard and into the Pool Area.  Typically they will gather around the pool and Moroccan Day Bed to await the arrival of the bridal train.

There are many different areas that can be chosen for the wedding ceremony but most like to use the Moroccan Day Bed.

Comments from Chris & Ellie’s Wedding – 11 June 2016

This from the Bride's mum ...

"Dear Les and Audrey

I can never thank you both enough for the wonderful wedding of Ellie, my daughter, and son-in-law, Chris, at Paraiso Rural on 11th June 2016.

Everything was perfect – the venue was breath-taking, the food was divine (thank you so much Wes), the weather was gorgeous and, everyone involved did a fantastic job.

I have never been to a wedding which was so relaxed and where there was so much love.

We seemed to party all week.  People congregated at the villas or met up in the lovely little town of Orgiva for breakfast and dinners.

It was also lovely to be able to drive up into the mountains or spend time on the beach.

I am pleased, too, that you managed to source just about everything locally which benefited the town.

Most of all your hospitality was amazing – your kindness and warmth and attention to detail.

We are already talking about returning in the future for a reunion!

Love you both.

Sue xx

This from the groom …

My girlfriend and I took a last minute decision to recharge and spend four days in Spain during a stressful period whilst we tried to find a suitable wedding location in the UK and were recommended this little gem by a family member that had visited a couple of months before, as a destination to go and clear our heads before continuing our search of Mansion Houses, Period Properties and ‘Unique Venues’ etc.

The drive from Malaga airport along the coast and then up through the mountains in a convertible really took the stress out of our bodies and by the time we’d reached the property we already felt refreshed - what greeted us just took our breath away.

We were met at the gates by the effervescent Les and the charming Audrey, who couldn’t do enough to ensure our stay was just how we wanted it to be. During the introductory walk around the property, we walked past the Moroccan Day Bed next to the pool and down to the Palm Court, with Les and Audrey talking us through the history of the property and explaining the plants and the reasons behind them, when my girlfriend put her head on my arm and said that she wished we “could just get married here, it’s such a beautiful and tranquil paradise”!  Not missing a beat, Les said he’d be delighted and privileged to host our wedding and could even help with the planning and Audrey (being an amazing cook herself btw!) said that they also knew people in the small village that would do the food for the wedding too.

Well that was in April 2015 and by June 2016, 51 of our closest friends and family, along with Ellie and myself, enjoyed what can honestly be described as the best day of our lives.  We lost count of how many people gushed about the location and the organisation of the music, the food, the decor, the fireworks (viewed from the roof tops of the villas into an unpolluted night sky with the mountains on either side), the property itself......

I couldn’t recommend Paraíso Rural in Órgiva enough, it really is paradise and when Les emailed me to ask if I’d be kind enough to leave a review, I had to think long and hard about exactly what I’d write, as I didn’t want it to just be ‘another review’ that I’d leave after experiencing exceptional or bad service.

This review is following the best day of my life, almost two years ago, and I hope that it encourages you to visit and fall in love, hopefully, in more ways than one.

Chris
