Jaime Palacín is the founder of Nevada Guides. His company takes guests on hiking, trekking, mountain biking and high climbing tours and excursions of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and its surroundings. He wants to give you the opportunity of enjoying its natural park's, mountains, lakes and fauna as well as experiencing its incredible villages and the people who live there.

Jaime is passionate about what he does and he has earned the title of Mountain Sports Technician after more than ten years' leading people in the mountains of the Sierra Nevada and Granada areas.

Nevada Guides is registered in the Delegation of Tourism and Commerce of Granada with the registration number AT/GR/00148; this means that they comply with all legal obligations, and all their professionals have the necessary training for all activities that they have available.

They offer 2 options of tours.

1. 4WD Safari of the Sierra Nevada

Concentrates on the mountains around Granada with collection point in/near Granada.

Discover the best views of the Sierra Nevada mountains in the province of Granada, and enjoy panoramic views of the old city from secret viewpoints. After picking you up in Granada, travel by 4WD vehicle towards the towering peaks of the nearby mountains located north of the city. They have altitudes of more than 6,700 feet (2,000 meters), and remain snow-capped for most of the year. When you arrive there, have a drink with the breathtaking views of the highest mountains in Spain. They will go at your pace, stopping the times you want to take pictures, enjoy the landscape or just relax; you will discover old white mountain villages, lakes and the most incredible forests in southern part of the country.

Explore the north face of the Sierra Nevada to see the highest peaks in the Iberian Peninsula, climbing to heights of more than 3,000 meters. Marvel at the amazing landscape, before driving to Sierra de Huétor Natural Park. The mountains here are lower, and were used by the Moors to draw spring water for the Albaicín, now part of Granada. See some old fortifications from the days of the Spanish Civil War, and enjoy incredible views of Granada and the Sierra Nevada.

2. 4WD Tour of the Alpujarra

Experience a 4WD adventure with their full day Alpujarra Granadina tour in the Sierra Nevada. See picturesque villages clinging to the highest mountains in Spain on their off road safari. The Alpujarra is a beautiful historical region in Andalucía, Spain and is situated on the south slopes of the Sierra Nevada. This particular region is known to have it's own mini-ecology and on our 4WD tour you will get to see the terraced farmlands of the Alpujarra watered from the melting snow from the Sierra Nevada mountains. After the expulsion of the Arabs from the city of Granada, they left us picturesque villages clinging to the mountains, being some of the highest in Spain. This is a unique trip and offers you a rare glance into the Alpujarra.

4X4 Tours Sierra Nevada are based in Órgiva in the Alpujarras. They are passionate about the amazing outdoors and nature of the Sierra Nevada and Alpujarra. Having lived there for decades they bring with them extensive experience in mountain exploring, walking, hiking, guiding, and off road driving.

They offer individually tailored tours, taking you deep into the heart of the mountains. You will be stopping at amazing view points looking up or across towards the high snowy peaks or back towards the deep blue of the not so distant Mediterranean sea. Apart from stunning views you will see wild and remote places, waterfalls, wild life, sun drenched fields of flowers followed by fields of snow. Depending on the season a tour might start on a sunny village plaza, yet only one hour later you might be building a snow man right next to the car, 1500m higher up.

In between you will be passing through an incredible range of different landscapes and scenery! You can take it easy and just sit back and enjoy the view, maybe getting out of the car to take some pictures or sit down for a picnic. Or we can take you on walks, show you where to dive into cold mountain streams, or where to buy the best local souvenirs. One minute we might be driving on small local roads, the next we might be crossing rivers or charging up and down steep ravines on barely visible tracks!

The Team

Andy is an outdoor and 4×4 enthusiast who has lived and off roaded in the Sierra Nevada for 20 years. He not only knows the many remote tracks of the high Sierra like the back of his hand, but he also owns a remote farmstead high up in the Lanjarón valley.

Jens has been living in the Sierra Nevada since the year 2001, and apart from co-running 4×4 Tours Sierra Nevada, he is also a mountain guide. There are few people who know the high Sierra as intimately as him, and if you want a bit more than just a comfortable trip and a picnic up the mountain, he can get your adrenaline glands going by taking you climbing or abseiling.

They speak English, Spanish and German.

Prices

You can charter a whole car for a tour tailor-made to your wishes, with space for up to 6 passengers, starting at €90 for tours of 3h, €150 for 5h, or 250€ for the whole day. Depending on the season and demand, you can book a seat or two on one of our regular tours, from €30/p. These will include round trips in the high mountains as well as sunset tours to view points where you will see the sun setting beyond the Med, its red colours being reflected by snowy peaks. We also offer drop offs at trail heads, mountain bike taxis, camping trips or any other transport needs. You want to get deep into the Sierra Nevada Mountains – we will get you there!
